Social Emotional Learning

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

SELs are provided to schools to accelerate student growth in the social and emotional competencies and to support a positive school climate and culture.  SELs collaborate with principals and teacher leaders to assess, develop and implement school-wide initiatives to address social and emotional wellness.  SELs also provide targeted behavioral interventions to students so that schools have a continuum of social and emotional services for students.
