Kindergarten in Music
This month all of the Kinder students in music are starting to learn about three different music notes. A quarter note, 2 eighth notes and a quarter note rest. In order to learn the rhythm of these notes, we give them all nicknames: quarter note becomes "blue", 2 eighth notes become "yellow" and a rest is still a rest. We put these notes into patterns and clap them or use other body percussion such as stomping, snapping and patting. We also play these notes on classroom instruments such as hand drums. Learning about the notes and their rhythm goes with Colorado Music Standard 3:Theory of Music.
